After 17 years of caring for acutely ill patients as an Emergency Medicine Specialist, Dr. Gruning left the Emergency Department in 2001 to provide the best possible care for auto accident injuries. After he developed chronic fatigue himself, Dr. Gruning did much additional study on natural therapies that heal and started on a journey that led into functional medicine. He discovered the work of Dr. Richie Shoemaker with Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome and now concentrates on using his protocols as a proficiency partner, along with other functional medicine treatments to provide healing and hope to complex patients for over 16 years.
Dr. Gruning is a Christian physician and seeks to heal the whole person-body, mind and spirit because that is what provides the greatest long-term success for his patients.
